Network of European Medical Students' Conference- NEMSC

The Network of European Medical Students' Conferences is a collaboration between EMSA, ISCOMS and ESC-Berlin. The main aim of this network is to strengthen the knowledge and power of the European (bio)medical scientific student conferences. A consortium was formed of two leading scientific student conferences in Europe (ESC-Berlin and ISCOMS-Groningen) and the European Medical Students' Association. NEMSC

 NEMSC has the following aims:

1)To facilitate interfaculty exhange of high-potential medical and biomedical students

2)To enhance Medical Science Student Congresses in Europe by:

        • increasing the number of participants of individual congresses
        • improving the quality of the congresses by means of setting standards for member congresses of the NEMSC with establishing joint evaluating of the congresses and organising workshops and/or seminars for congress-organisations

3)To promote science in Europe by informing students about research events and to establish a joint website

4)To enhance integration of medical science researchers

ISCOMSISCOM-International Student Congress of (bio) Medical Sciences

The International Student Congress of (bio) Medical Sciences is one of the world’s leading (bio)medical student congresses. This annually congress takes place at the University Medical Center Groningen in the Netherlands. The ISCOMS aims to promote student research and the international exchange of it.

Students from all over the world will be given the opportunity to present their research in poster, oral or plenary form in front of an international audience. Along with these student sessions there will be fascinating keynote lectures, hands-on workshops and a pre-course to learn more about how to write an abstract or present your research. The ISCOMS also offers students a chance to do an ISCOMS Research Fellowship, a two week research programme at the UMC Groningen.

Next to a rich scientific programme the ISCOMS also has an elaborate social programme, filled with dinners and parties. During the Post Congress Tour the most beautiful places of The Netherlands will be shown.

The 18th edition of the ISCOMS will be held from the 5th till the 8th of June 2012.

The ESC – European Students’ Conference –  is one of the largest biomedical conferences worldwide and has been one of the main events at the Charité for many years. Addressing young scientists, graduate students, post-graduate students, PhD students, post-docs, and everyone interested in biomedical research, the ESC represents an interdisciplinary platform for international scientific exchange between numerous countries, students, clinicians, and professors from different fields of research and various cultures.

General emphasis is put on a high quality scientific and educational program. This is realized in a series of scientific sessions, educational workshops and lectures that cover most fields of medicine. In addition to general subjects, each team selects a priority topic that becomes the focus of the respective ESC: The theme of this year´s Conference is “Transplantation and Implantation – Trends in Organ Substitution”. The objective of the conference is to present and discuss the latest achievements in the exiting opportunities of replacing and enhancing human organ and tissue structures.

Founded in 1989 the ESC historically served as a bridge to East-West student relations after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The aim was to create a platform for young researchers from different fields. Over the past 21 years, the ESC established a way of bringing researchers and medical staff with different interests, but more importantly different countries together.

Reaching out to all corners of the continent and the four corners of the world, the ESC is proud to welcome 500 – 700 presenting and not-presenting participants from over 60 countries, every year. Furthermore, we hope to encourage a more interdisciplinary approach to modern sciences, and to give you the opportunity to present your research to the scientific community and an interested audience.

The conference is held annually in Autumn at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany. This year it will take place from 17th -20th September 2012.
